The family of 24-year-old Lucas Scutt, who died in a suspicious house fire in Cowes last month, have paid an emotional tribute to their cherished son, brother, grandson, nephew, and friend.
Emergency services were called to a property in Ronsons Close at 03:32 on Friday 26th June, where firefighters, police and ambulance crews responded to a serious blaze.
Sadly, Lucas Scutt was unable to exit the terraced home and was later found dead inside the property. He died alongside a number of his pets.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary immediately launched a murder investigation following the fire.
Just under 2 weeks since the fatal blaze, Lucas’ family have now released the following tribute:
“Our family is completely devastated by the loss of Lucas, a cherished son, brother, grandson, nephew, and friend. He brought so much joy, love, and laughter into our lives, and his loss leaves an unimaginable void.
“We are also mourning the loss of his beloved pets, who also passed away alongside him.
“We, as a family, ask that our privacy is fully respected by the media at this time as we attempt to come to terms with this profound tragedy.”
It is understood Lucas was involved in a serious fire on board a boat at Cowes Yacht Haven back in 2019, which left him with burns and needing specialist treatment.
The investigation into Lucas’ killing remains ongoing.
A total of 3 men, who were arrested on suspicion of murder and arson with intent to endanger life, remain on police bail until September. Another man, who had also been arrested, has been released with no further action.
Detectives continue to appeal for information from anyone who may be able to assist the investigation.
