UPDATED: Emergency services are attending a road traffic collision, thought to involve a lorry and a car, in the centre of Newport this morning (Wednesday).
Fire appliances from Newport and East Cowes are on scene at Pyle Street amid fears 1 person is trapped inside a vehicle. They were called to the scene at 11:15.
The road has been closed whilst teams deal with the incident.
Traffic is reported to be heavy in and around Newport.
UPDATE @ 12:33 – Hampshire Constabulary have confirmed that the incident has involved a tipper truck and a car.
Thankfully, no one has been trapped in the incident and fire crews have stood down.
The scene has now been cleared.
