An Isle of Wight man facing 25 sexual offence charges, ranging from sexual activity with a minor to making indecent images of children, has seen his case pushed back to July.
44-year-old Gareth Wheeler, of Blackthorn Close in Ryde, appeared before His Honour Judge Melville KC at the Isle of Wight Crown Court on Monday (5th June).
Wheeler, who did not enter a plea at Monday’s hearing, was finding the court environment ‘remarkably stressful’, according to his solicitor.
The charges put before Gareth Wheeler include child sex offences such as sexual assault of a child, engaging in sexual activity with a child, and making indecent images of children, all of which took place over several years.
The case has been adjourned until 28th July for a further case management hearing.
The court has set a provisional trial date of 10th May 2027.
