The occupants of a Ford Fiesta that crashed on Brading Down last night (Sunday) suffered no injuries, Police have confirmed.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Constabulary were called at 16:00 to reports of a single-vehicle collision on Brading Down Road, near the Brading Down Viewpoint.
At the scene a burgundy Ford Fiesta had left the road, coming to rest on the bank at the side of the carriageway. The vehicle’s passenger side front wheel had been ripped from the chassis and was left bent beyond recognition.
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service were called to the scene but Police have confirmed that no serious injuries were sustained.
The vehicle was left in situ.
Probably the usual reason for accidents
“”Speeding””
Until the Council addresses speeding on the island
roads will continue to be unsafe.
The council doesn’t have to “address” speeding, it is entirely the fault of usually young utterly inexperienced and arrogant drivers who are unfit to even be on the road and who drive far beyond their limited abilities or intelligence.
Can’t agree with you more! Only this morning, very early, had a big van right up close behind me. It was deliberate tailgating simply because I was being careful driving down the High Street – newspaper delivery person cycling with no lights, on the WRONG side of the road was just one hazard. It reminded me of the 1971 film: ‘Duel’. I couldn’t see the face of the driver in his clapped out van – one headlight working, old number plate – not IOW. The silver lining is that it’s another dangerous driver off the roads.
Law and order on the island is slack.
Going too fast lost it ..simple just more bad driving on the island.
I keep going on about speeding on the island because it
is rife.
No one seems to STOP Motorists speeding.
Measures need to be put in place, can’t rely on
Motorists, they know they will get away with speeding
on the island.
I would like to see more traffic Police on the island.
Well said Reg. You hit the nail on the head. From what I have seen on the mainland, you should be at least 21 before you get a licence. Speeding is rife everywhere and even if you had more police, they would do very little. I have reported, many times vehicles with illegal registration plates, nothing like the ones in the Highway code, to the “Higher up’s in the Hampshire force and as usual, I do all the foot work and they just pass the buck.
