A total of 12 people have now recovered and been discharged from hospital after testing positive for coronavirus COVID-19, according to the Isle of Wight NHS Trust.
As previously reported by Island Echo, the coronavirus death toll on the Island increased to 11 on Easter Monday following the death of an individual on Saturday.
Officials have now confirmed that the latest 3 deaths have been 2 women and a man in their 70s and 80s. All had underlying health conditions.
There are a total of 56 confirmed cases of coronavirus on the Isle of Wight as of 13th April, with that number expected to increase later on this afternoon. Island Echo has analysed the data available – read more at https://www.islandecho.co.uk/facts-and-figures-of-the-coronavirus-pandemic-on-the-isle-of-wight/.
Nationally, the number of people who have tested positive for COVID-19 stands at 93,873. There have been at least 12,107 deaths across the country.
The number of new cases on the Island is not skyrocketing as one could have been expected, with the Isle of Wight still sitting towards the bottom of the local authority table in terms of the total number of cases.

This is only the figures which are in the system.. the true figures are way higher.. covid 19 at home,, deaths due to covid 19 at home.. Is way higher than hospital figures.. Fact!
It’s nice to have some positive news for a change instead of the doom and gloom everyone thrives on commenting on in here.
How many have died and continue to die in care homes? It’s my understanding deaths in care homes are not included in the figures..
I think public health england need to start including figures from care homes etc as surely these are unreliable figures?
We need a broader picture of the real s**t this virus has caused.
I think you all need to spend time helping others!!
Rather than making useless comments…….!!!
Sorry Steve not your comment..
It’s been reported nationally that GPs are not visiting care homes for fear of infection and due to work load, and that consequently the diagnosis of ‘Covid-19’ isn’t being made in such places, but informed guesses instead of what the person had already been living with. It’s tragic to think of us potentially losing so many more older people at this time.
Bored of covid19 now
Yes nice to know now that some people survive… means we are not ALL doomed….. keep your distance and wash hands often…; use tissues and dispose of properly.. PLEASE !!
I would like to see dogs kept on a leash, as you don’t know who has touched or coughed or sneezed over them, they can be carriers… I am not anti dog… just being careful..
I have to resist the urge to stroke cats now too. One particular puss I regularly see was rolling around on a pillar the last time I saw him because he always gets a tickle from me and couldn’t understand why this time all I could do was say *hello* to him instead of the usual friendly greeting he is used to getting from me.
Has the lockdown finished? It certainly looed as though it has by the number of cars and people out in Ryde today… I was watching all the traffic and people going past my window in disbelief…
