Emergency services are on scene at a road traffic collision on the outskirts of Newport this evening (Wednesday).
The crash has occurred on Noke Common, off the main Newport to Cowes Road and has invovled 2 vehicles.
A 999 call reporting the incident was made shortly before 19:25.
Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service has mobilised 2 appliances, with the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service dispatching multiple resources.
Police have closed the road in both directions as blue light colleagues tend to those involved.
UPDATE @ 20:22 – The incident, which has seen a Royal Mail-owned Peugeot Boxer van collide with a Ford Transit tipper, is not as serious as first feared.
Recovery of the vehicles involved has been arranged, with the road set to reopen in due course.
UPDATE @ 21:17 – Noke Common has now reopened.
