Husband and wife team Victoria and Lee Murphy have set out their plans to take forward Whippingham’s The Folly Inn, with their ambitious plans set to get underway this Thursday. Victoria, who started her hospitality career in Malta, brings plenty of experience in the industry, having successfully managed numerous UK-based pubs, and has now decided to settle in the Isle of Wight with her husband Lee who will be joining her as Assistant Manager at the site. Victoria and Lee have fallen in love with the Island’s charm, history, and culture and in taking on the picturesque waterside pub, they hope to transform The Folly Inn into a hub for the local community to enjoy. The pub’s first major community event – The Folly Inn Summer Party – will be held this Thursday 2nd May and aims to bring the community together for a night of fun to celebrate the start of the summer months and celebrate all things Isle of Wight. Before the tourist season kicks off, islanders are welcome to come and celebrate the best the island has to offer, revelling in a celebration packed with live entertainment, an outdoor cinema, traditional wooden garden games, food, drink and more. Guests can capture unforgettable memories with a fun magical photo mirror and enjoy performances from some of the best local musicians on the island. Alongside a taster of the pub’s menu, complimentary popcorn and delicious ice cream will be provided at the charming waterside location, alongside a range of delicious lite bites to accompany complimentary champagne. A wide variety of refreshing drinks will also be available at the bar. Victoria Murphy, General Managers of The Folly Inn, said:
“Our team at The Folly Inn has been working tirelessly behind the scenes to get ready to start the summer with a bang, with a special celebration held exclusively for residents of the Isle of Wight. “Having recently joined the team as General Manager I am determined to create a welcoming environment for everyone, making The Folly Inn a hub for the local community. And what better way to do that than to celebrate the Island we all love. “We can’t wait to welcome customers both old and new to our summer party and with so much going on, from fun and games to the best entertainment our island has to offer, it’s going to be a night to remember. We’re very excited to see everyone there!”

Hope it goes well might go back again after years of it being…well crap the thing that is bad is the road down to it..unless it’s better not been for ages..
It is even worse and all the vans and the lorries going to the Folly does not help. It is actually in the hands of our MP Bib Seeley at present and he has been down the lane a couple of times as so many pot holes. All the money spent on the Folly but they will not pay towards the lane and at night you can not see the potholes
Half sausage doing something about the lane? You must be joking… Just another vote catching publicity stunt. He’s not catching my vote…
Just to inform everyone this so called summer Party for residence is not what it looks like. I phoned to see what time this was on only to be told you have to book on line and say if you have any allergies, then you will get a confirmation. So not only do you have to go down the potholes you may not be able to be there as you have not booked. Well done Green King nothing changes.
So book online then.
Would you rather drive down the potholes only to find its full.
You just can’t please some poeple.
Actually we walk and they would not even confirm the times and nothing on their web site.
The thing is regarding the lane people should not be drink driving in the first place try walking then you can miss the potholes
Absolutely, it is the road down to the Folly which is the problem and , it is getting worse.
We wish you every success with your Thursday ” Summer Party” could be a bit chilly.
Every strength to your elbows, sort out the vehicular access and, there is no doubt that you’ll have a huge success on your hands!
It’s part of the charm.
No ..not when it buggers your car and back its not..
Sorry hope it goes well but you won’t see me going down the road from hell
Best off road course on the island.
Just wondering, given the road is commented about a lot, who is responsible for it? There will be a lot of traffic to and from the mobile home park – they must find it annoying. Presumably if it’s never fixed then it’s not Council owned? So who should fix it? Anyone know?
My guess is every resident down the road is liable for a share… The whole road repair would probably run to £500k
Not every resident actually its down to the land owners who own the freehold that fronts folly lane ,and we don’t want all the noise or numbers down there it was a real problem before
If it’s the residents’ responsibility – it’s less than £10 for a bag of cold-set asphalt at The Range – they could sort it out themselves, like we do in my road!
This is similar to what the council do cheap bodge job rather than solve the problem
It’s not down to the residents and if you do your own road you are liable for any damage or injury caused
Have you checked the weather for Thursday windy and showers don’t think be much going on out doors! Especially a. Summer party lol
The best of luck with what is a fabulous venue
Shame their hands are tied re the menus- all food having to be brought over from the mainland… Run out of food and there’s no chance of getting more in if the pub is suddenly over busy… I won’t go there because of the terrible state of the road. 🙁
Mud sticks, I won’t be rushing back there until I hear some positive reviews
Folly Lane was even worse when I was a kid (a long time ago). It’s easy enough to negotiate, you just have to drive slowly. Cue a flurry of activity on Google as local drivers try to find the meaning of that phrase. The road to the Ryde Queen was far worse, but we still got there!
LOL, yes, but that was usually staggering and not driving
