A new lease of life could be coming to 1 of the most notable buildings on Shanklin High Street, which has been empty for 5 years.
Plans have been lodged with the Isle of Wight Council to transform the former NatWest bank into a café and tattoo studio.
The offices on the 1st floor, once used by the bank – which left the town in 2017, are proposed to be turned into a 3 bed flat.
Proposed plans have been put forward by James Fleming who says there will be no impact on the building, with no changes to its appearance or structure. Partition walls will be added to separate the café and tattoo parlour on the ground floor and create bedrooms in the flat.
You can view the two sets of plans, 22/00690/FUL (tattoo studio) and 22/00740/FUL (flat) on the council’s planning register.
Comments can be submitted until 1st July.
Just what we need – More Tattoos
Just great! Just what Shanklin needs, yet another cafe and tattoo parlour. Why not include a hairdressers, charity shop and estate agents? It’s not like there’s much competition already in town.
Would have made a nice betting shop.
Cost of living crisis? Seen the peice of tattoos?
Those pleading poverty yet paying no rent nor council tax and receiving tax credits and free food will be its best customers I will wager
If that is “1 of the most notable buildings in Shanklin” no wonder the place died years ago.
And 1 should be one btw.
Well if they do well ?
Hope it’s those that can afford it ……
And not those we pay for in benefits !!!!!!!
Think about when/if you get old and wrinkly before you indulge ????
Classy, just like the rest of the island.
Can’t afford to eat, get a tattoo!
Shanklin needs money, not tattoos. Bring back the bank.
