Families are being invited to step back in time as a free Viking festival returns to Arreton Barns next month, promising 2 days of live combat, hands-on activities and historical entertainment – all while raising money for Wight Brainy Bunch.
Wolfheim, organised by the Wolfguard Historical Reenactment Society and hosted at Arreton Barns, will take place on Saturday 8th and Sunday 9th August between 10:00 and 16:00.
Entry to the family-friendly event is free, although visitors are encouraged to make a donation in support of Wight Brainy Bunch, the Isle of Wight charity that supports children and young people living with brain tumours and their families.
Across the weekend, visitors will be able to experience live Viking combat displays, explore an authentic historical encampment and enjoy storytelling sessions that bring the Viking era to life.
There will also be plenty of opportunities to get involved, with have-a-go archery, axe throwing, traditional games and crafts among the activities on offer.
A range of craft and food stalls will also be available throughout the festival.
Organisers say the aim of Wolfheim is to inspire an interest in history by giving people the opportunity to get hands-on and immerse themselves in the Viking experience, while raising funds for a worthwhile local cause.
