Police are once again investigating the theft of batteries from temporary traffic lights on the Isle of Wight.
HSS Hire, who supply traffic management solutions across the Island, have reported that 6 batteries have gone missing overnight.
The theft occurred at a temporary roadworks site at Winford Road in Newchurch.
At the tail end of 2018 a number of HSS’ batteries were stolen from Shalfleet and Military Road. Investigations by Hampshire Constabulary have since led to the arrest and charge of a man, who remains in custody.
This isn’t the first nor second time that batteries have gone walkies in the dark. Island Echo has reported about the theft of batteries from across the Island in July 2017, January 2018 and July 2018.
Police have launched a new initiative to encourage Island businesses and individuals to paint their batteries pink, as reported last week.
Anyone with information about this latest theft should contact Police on 101, quoting 44190017092.
