James Scully-Syer and Ted Jeal have been crowned Isle of Wight Padel Champions after 48 players competed across 69 matches earlier this week (Monday).
The championships were held at Ryde Lawn Tennis & Croquet Club, bringing together 28 club members, 20 visitors and 8 juniors for a day of competitive action.
Despite cloudy skies and a brief shower, the weather held out throughout the competition, with heavy rain arriving around 30 minutes after the final point was played.
Scully-Syer and Jeal secured the title with a 6-4, 7-5 victory over David and Julian Hornby in a tightly contested final.
Lee and Regan Matthews, alongside Martin Bailey and Andy Woodyatt, reached the semi-finals.
In the Consolation Draw, Blair Hobbs and Stuart Pittaccio recorded a 6-1 victory over Luke Scrimshaw and Matthew Oatley.
Junior competitors Barnaby King and Leo Higgins-Cabellero narrowly missed out on reaching the consolation final.
Club volunteers were also thanked for their work organising the tournament, preparing the grounds and courts, providing food and clearing up afterwards.
