15 batteries used to power temporary traffic lights have been stolen on the Isle of Wight overnight.
HSS Hire, which is based in Newport, have reported to Police the theft of 9 batteries from Shalfleet and 6 from Military Road.
Each battery is worth £75 meaning £1,125 worth of equipment has been stolen. Moreover, the thefts put motorists in danger as the traffic lights fail to operate without the batteries.
