A motorcyclist is receiving treatment from paramedics after being knocked off their scooter by a car in Northwood this morning (Thursday).
Emergency services are on scene on the main road between Newport and Cowes, where a collision has occurred between a Lambretta V Special 125 and a black Ford KA, at the junction with Oxford Street.
It happened around 07:05.
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service has an ambulance crew and critical care paramedic in attendance, with medics treating the injured rider who is laid in the road.
The driver of the Ford, an elderly male, has escaped injury.
Police are also attendance.
Motors should anticipate some delays in the area as we move towards rush-hour, but the road remains open in both directions.
UPDATE @ 07:47 – The motorcyclist has been conveyed to St Mary’s Hospital for further treatment.
Recovery of the vehicles is to be arranged.
