A person has been airlifted to hospital after becoming seriously unwell aboard a cargo ship off the Isle of Wight earlier today (Saturday).
At 14:15, HM Coastguard received reports of a person in medical difficulty on board a cargo vessel in waters off the Isle of Wight.
Bembridge RNLI’s all-weather lifeboat was sent, along with an HM Coastguard Helicopter sent all the way from St Athan in Wales.
The casualty was quickly winched off the vessel and into the helicopter and flown to Queen Alexandra Hospital in Portsmouth.
