As first reported by Island Echo, Armed Response Officers were deployed to Ryde Esplanade on Saturday afternoon (30th September) after reports were received of a man carrying a machete at The King Lud pub.
St Thomas’ Street was closed to pedestrians and all traffic as officers took up position outside a residential address, where the suspect was thought to be located.
Later that day, Police confirmed that a 51-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon and a 44-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of affray.
The 51-year-old and the 44-year-old have both been bailed until the end of December as enquiries continue.
