The Isle of Wight Zoo and the National Poo Museum have launched ’Love your Poo’ week, which is running until Sunday 5th June in association with Bowel Cancer Research and Bowel Cancer UK to highlight the taboo surrounding bowel cancer, the UK’s the second biggest cancer killer.
Throughout the week, visitors to the National Poo Museum on Culver Parade will be shown how to spot the main symptoms of bowel cancer, treatment for the disease and how to help reduce the risk, including information on the introduction of a new NHS screening programme.,Visitors can even pick up a copy of ‘Test the Nation’ bowel cancer quiz, a quiz that could just save a life.
On Wednesday (1st June) visitors will be able to chat with Amy Noss from Bowel & Cancer Research who will be spending the day at the museum as part of ‘Love your Poo’ week.
Amy says:
“9/10 people will survive bowel cancer if it is caught in its earliest stage so it is important that people are not embarrassed to take action if something is wrong and see their GPs immediately. Bowel & Cancer Research supports ‘Love your Poo’ week in providing a platform to raise this vital awareness.
Over 41,000 people will be diagnosed with bowel cancer over the next year so early diagnosis is vital.
The National Poo Museum is open 7 days a week with free entry to Zoo visitors.
