NHS workers from across Hampshire, Dorset and West Sussex have saved over £675,000, thanks to a generous deposit contribution scheme from leading housebuilder, Barratt and David Wilson Homes.
The Barratt Developments NHS Deposit Contribution Scheme, which was launched by the housebuilder on 23rd May, sees NHS employees receive a 5% contribution towards a deposit on their new homes as a thank you for their hard work during the COVID-19 crisis.
Since the scheme was launched, buyers from within Barratt and David Wilson Homes’ Southampton division, which includes several developments across Hampshire including St George’s Gate on the Isle of Wight, 54 NHS workers have benefitted from the scheme. Of that figure, 40 were first time buyers and overall, those NHS workers purchasing a new Barratt or David Wilson home in the region have saved £677,825.70.
The NHS incentive can also be used in conjunction with the government Help to Buy scheme, offering further support to those looking to purchase their first home. What’s more, thanks to the Chancellor’s announcement to scrap Stamp Duty on properties up to the value of £500,000 on sales that have legally completed before 31st March 2021, buyers can benefit even further.
Tammy Bishop, Sales and Marketing Director at Barratt Developments’ Southampton division commented:
“It’s brilliant to see that so many NHS workers are making use of the NHS Deposit Contribution Scheme. The National Health Service has worked incredibly hard during the COVID-19 pandemic, and we are really pleased that the scheme is already benefiting those who deserve it the most.
“Our NHS scheme is one of many incentives that are available to prospective homebuyers, and with low-interest rates and Stamp Duty being scrapped, it’s an ideal time for buyers to purchase their dream home.”

I’m glad to see the elite getting what they need. All of us not part of the elite class deserve nothing. LONG LIVE THE ELITES!
I’d actually class an NHS worker as elite, as so many owe them their lives. Thankyou NHS
