VIDEO: Kai Davis of The Local Directory is calling out to independent businesses on the Isle of Wight to join ShopAppy, a new solution for combating the online retail giants.
ShopAppy.com offers customers more options on where they shop by giving local shops, services and markets the opportunity to have a 24 hour online shop window.
The idea came about as a result of Jackie Mulligan’s frustration of having insufficient time to support local businesses that were often closed when she returned home from work. Jackie founded ShopAppy in December 2016 and the system is now live in 12 towns, with Norfolk, Lincolnshire and the Isle of Wight set to boost that number in the coming months.
Kai Davis explains:
“Our work with local businesses has already shown how important it is to collaborate. ShopAppy is a logical next step for us to provide even more support to our business community. The site also works well with the recently launched #WDYT campaign.
“The most important thing for me is that this gives customers more choices and ways to shop closer to home – whether just making it easier to see the products shops offer, or clicking and collecting their items when it is more convenient.”
Jackie is delighted to be working with the Isle of Wight’s Local Directory:
“We noticed Kai and his work on the Isle of Wight on Twitter and Facebook and could see he shared the same passion for small local businesses – we are excited to see this develop.”
The system will go live on the Isle of Wight in June, with Ryde, Newport, Cowes and Yarmouth to be the focus of the initial launch.
