A local fisherman is appealing for information following the theft of around 70 lobsters and 40kg of crab over the weekend.
Tommy from Bembridge Ledge Shellfish says that the crustaceans were taken from his 3 keep pots at St Helens Fort at some point on Sunday afternoon (31st July). The theft has left him struggling as Cowes Week approaches.
Friends, family and customers of the popular fisherman have set up a JustGiving page to help recoup some of his losses. Nearly £300 has already been raised.
The appeal has been shared far and wide on Facebook, with a reward being offered for information that leads to the identification of the culprit(s). The lobsters are said to be banded with blue rubber bands.
Anyone with information can contact Bembridge Ledge Shellfish via the Facebook page. Alternatively, information can be given to Police on 101.
