Wight Tri had a strong contingent of triathletes taking part in their 1st mainland triathlon of the season, the Southampton Sprint Triathlon.
With an early morning start and to allow for the members to catch the first catamaran, all the Isle of Wight competitors were started off in the later waves for the 400m pool swim, taking place at the Applemore Sports Centre. The weather conditions were cool for the 20km undulating cycle loop which took the cyclists on a route which passed through Beaulieu.
Craig Wilson came home first for Wight tri in a super 12th position. Starting with a 7:35 swim (which included part of T1), he finished 2nd in the 50-54 category in a swift time of 1:05:00 and posted the 3rd fastest overall bike split of 34:51 and a run time of 20:25.
Next home in 16th position overall, taking 1st Female position overall and 1st in the 45-49 category was Jan Fletcher in a PB time of 1:08:01. Jan had a super swim of 7:20 and posted both the fastest female bike split (37:47) and run split (20:36) to take her 1st win in this event. What a super start to the 2022 season.

Annette Hickman and Abigail Sollars brought home the club with 2 fantastic podium spots. Posting 1:37:08 and 1:45:49 respectively, they took 1st and 2nd in the 55-59 category.
