A concert with soloists as young as 8 and a 50-strong choir came together to support the Wildheart Animal Sanctuary over the weekend to raise vital funds.
Organised by Island vocal coach Kay Howard, the Singing Stars, a newly formed choir on the Island, raised nearly £1,500.
Taking place in the theatre at Ryde School, the evening showcased Kay’s Melodic Choir, built of a teen choir and her vocal clients, some of whom were making their performing debut.
Kay said:
“Oh what a night, indeed.
“I am beyond proud of everyone and so thrilled with all the performances.
“I am overwhelmed with joy every time I see everyone up on stage together.
“To also raise so much money for Wildheart Animal Sanctuary simply by enjoying ourselves is incredible, thank you to everyone who came to support us.”
Donations from ticket sales and a raffle on the night raised £1,430 for Wildheart Animal Sanctuary, which is this year celebrating its 50th anniversary.
The charity’s Head of Community, Events and Partnerships, Lorraine White, said:
“We are so grateful to Kay and everyone who performed on the night, it was a wonderful showcase of Island talent and we feel so lucky to be the chosen charity for the event.
“It costs nearly £2 million every year to provide our animals with the specialist care, food, and forever homes they deserve — and events like this make that possible. The community’s support literally keeps our Sanctuary alive.”
