2 Isle of Wight sides are at home this evening (Tuesday) with Cowes Sports entertaining Christchurch at Westwood Park and Newport facing Fawley at Smallbrook.
In the Wessex Premier, the Yachtsmen have hit a spot of good form of late with 2 wins from 3 games. Saturday’s 2-0 victory against Brockenhurst saw Cowes rise 1 place in the table to 17th. On the same day, their opponents Christchurch suffered a 0-4 home loss to Bemerton Heath Harlequins.
Can the Yachtsmen pick up their 3rd win in 4 games?
Assistant manager Andy Brown says:
“Christchurch have been inconsistent lately and having not played them, a bit of an unknown entity. However, they sit one place above Brockenhurst who we beat Saturday.
“Although we picked up some more injuries to key players, we also welcome some back. This demonstrates the value and strength in depth of the whole squad needed at this stage of season.
“Following our good performance [against Brockenhurst on Saturday], which added the focus and finishing that we had been asking for, the lads will be feeling confident for another win, plus 3 valuable points.”
Cowes Sports v Christchurch kicks off at Westwood Park at 19:45.

In Wessex Division 1, 2nd-placed Newport take on 14th-placed Fawley.
The Port had been on an impressive run of 6 straight wins but a 0-1 home defeat to league leaders New Milton Town on Saturday put a brake on their promotion push. Opponents Fawley lost their last game 4-3 at Millbrook.
Kick off at Smallbrook Stadium is at the earlier time of 19:15.

Also in Division 1, Alex Smith’s East Cowes Vics side travel to Wiltshire to face 2nd-from-bottom Amesbury Town.
Vics have been in excellent form since their home defeat to bottom-of-the table Fleet Spurs at the start of January. The East Cowes side pulled off a 3rd successive win at Folland Sports on Saturday; opponents Amesbury went down to a 5-1 defeat at Petersfield Town on the same day.
A Vics victory could see the side climb out of the 3 relegation places to rise as high as as a possible 13th place this evening. Can they achieve an unlikely 4th successive win?
Manager Alex Smith says:
“We’re excited for the game and another opportunity to see how well we can perform when it really matters. Although we took all 3 points at Follands, we also know we can perform at a much higher level than what we showed on Saturday, so we’ll be looking to address that against Amesbury.
“The squad depth is growing as more and more players are rising to the performance levels we need. The players themselves are creating great competition for places and driving us on.
“We’re on a journey together. There’ll be many more highs and lows to come, but we’re enjoying every step.”
Amesbury v East Cowes Vics kicks off at 19:45.
