Isle of Wight Pearl is once again taking part in The Big Butterfly Count, which runs until Sunday 7th August.
The venue invites families to join them over the 2 weeks in a nationwide survey aimed at assessing the health of our environment and the many species of butterflies found on the island.
In fact, the Isle of Wight is home to over 40 species of butterfly, many of which can be spotted in the Butterfly Meadow part of Isle of Wight Pearl. The venue has supported the Butterfly Conservation group in their count for the past Years, and have designated an area of land at the rear of the showroom into a meadow as a haven for wildlife.
Rossanne Burfoot, Marketing Manager said:
“We always enjoy this time of year, not only do they grounds look stunning but they are also buzzing with wildlife. We love encouraging people to get involved in caring for our special environment, something that is very important to us as a Carbon Neutral Pearl company.”
This is the world largest survey of butterflies and results in providing scientists with vital information on population trends and changes in behaviour in response to climate change and other environmental pressures.
Rossanne adds:
“It is a great day out for families; you can pick up a counting form from us when you visit and get counting! It is as simple as that. You can always reward yourself with a cream tea in the café afterwards!”
