Hovertravel has announced major changes to its fare structure – including significant savings for regular travellers, commuters and families using the Isle of Wight-Southsea hovercraft service.
The revised pricing structure, launched alongside the company’s new website, introduces simplified ticket options and reduced prices across several of Hovertravel’s most popular travel products.
Among the biggest changes is the launch of a new Professional & Education Flyer range, which combines NHS, Academic, Police and Fire fares into one product.
Under the new structure, the previous annual NHS Professional Flyer has been reduced from £2,043 to £1,815. Academic customers are also set to benefit from lower prices and immediate access to HoverPlus offers and discounts.
Hovertravel says the changes are designed to support professionals who travel regularly between the island and the mainland for work and education.
The company has also overhauled its Flexi Flyer tickets to better reflect modern travel habits.
The previous Flexi 100 ticket has now been replaced by a new Flexi 120 option, offering 120 single journeys for £840 – equating to £7 per crossing.
Meanwhile, the Adult Flexi 270 fare has seen one of the largest reductions, dropping from £1,793 to £1,269.
Families are also expected to benefit from the introduction of new child travel products.
A new Child Flexi 270 ticket has been introduced at £634.50, with each single journey costing £2.35. The new Child Flexi 120 ticket is priced at £420, replacing the previous Child Flexi 100 fare and reducing the cost per journey to £3.50.
All prices quoted by Hovertravel are based on single journeys.
Loretta Lale, Head of Marketing at Hovertravel said:
“The launch of our new website gave us the perfect opportunity to review our fare structure and ensure it continues to meet the needs of our customers and community.
“We know that simplicity, flexibility and value are important, particularly for those who travel with us regularly for work, education or family commitments.
“By bringing together our Professional and Education products under a single range and enhancing our Flexi Flyer tickets, we’ve made it easier for customers to choose the right ticket while also delivering significant savings in many cases.
“From professionals commuting every day to families travelling regularly, these changes ensure that more customers can benefit from the speed and convenience of hovercraft travel at a lower cost.”

Every little helps but it would be nice if std day trip prices
were available.
£20.00 for a day return seems ample for an island resident
to pay.
If you can do fares where flexi tickets work out £7.00
per crossing
£10.00 each crossing sounds fair for persons who
don’t travel so often.
