The Footprint Trust, a home energy charity based on the Isle of Wight, is launching a new volunteer scheme, thanks to funding from Ridge Clean Energy.
This initiative will provide training to volunteers who want to help residents save money on their energy bills. Fuel poverty is a significant issue on the Island, and The Footprint Trust has been cutting home energy use since its establishment in 2002.
Volunteers will work alongside a small team of home energy experts and have the opportunity to become a “Heat Helpmate.” The role offers flexible involvement, allowing volunteers to choose the type and amount of support they provide, from as little as 4 hours up to 2 days per week.
Laura Stichbury, the Manager of the Footprint Trust, shared:
“Our work is incredibly rewarding, and becoming a Heat Helpmate can benefit both you and your community. One of our senior energy team members initially joined us through this scheme. We’re deeply grateful to Ridge Clean Energy for enabling us to offer this volunteer program.”
Teresa Hall of RCE, developers of Sunny Oaks Renewable Energy Park, has said:
“Building on the success of the volunteer helpmates scheme initiated in 2022, Ridge Clean Energy (RCE) are pleased to be able to continue our support, this time with the Heat Helpmates programme for 2024. By helping Islanders to save money on heating and energy bills the Footprint Trust is benefitting both people and the planet, which is at the core of our values.”
