Healthwatch Isle of Wight are holding an event in Ryde later this month giving an opportunity for people who use mental health services, their families, friends and carers, to share their experiences of using services with system leaders.
The event will take place on Monday 29th January at Aspire Ryde from 13:00-15:30. Key representatives from the Isle of Wight Council and the Isle of Wight NHS Trust have been invited to present their plans for the future of local mental health services.
1 in 4 of us will suffer from depression, anxiety or other mental health condition in any given year and people living with severe mental illness are at risk of dying on average 15-20 years earlier than the general population, so it is essential that mental health services are given the priority they deserve.
Mental health services have been in the spotlight recently and the Isle of Wight has not performed well in providing good quality community mental health services. This is a perfect opportunity for people to come together to look at potential solutions to the problems faced by people on the Island and to identify the services that local people would like to be delivered in the future.
People interested in attending the event should contact Joanna Smith the Healthwatch Isle of Wight manager on 01983 522609 or via email [email protected].
