The NHS Nightingales and the Gurnard Community Choir are joining forces for a vibrant musical celebration, ‘Sing a Rainbow’, on 3rd July, with the evening promising a journey through pop history.
In an effort to raise vital funds for the St Mary’s Hospital Children’s Emergency Department, the concert features a high-energy, harmonious set-list of pop classics spanning several decades.
Every song or artist follows a colour theme, ranging from the soul of Simply Red and the pop-rock energy of Pink, to the nostalgia of Big Yellow Taxi, Lady in Red, and the atmospheric Fields of Gold.
Backing the choirs is a premier live band, The Orchestra of the Gods, led by renowned piano artist, James Longford, and featuring Jon Thorne on double bass. Attendees can also look forward to performances by incredible soloists, a high-quality raffle, and refreshments.
Proceeds from the evening will support a transformative project led by the IW NHS Youth Forum, who are working alongside clinicians and local charities to redesign the ‘quiet room’ in the Children’s Emergency Department at St. Mary’s Hospital.
The project focuses on creating a sensory-designed, peaceful sanctuary specifically for neurodiverse children and those experiencing mental health crises.
Funds from “Sing a Rainbow” are earmarked for the purchase of specialised medical-grade beanbags inside the units which provide a safe, relaxing environment for children to de-escalate, with at least one beanbag designated for A&E and another for St.Mary’s children’s ward.
The event will take place at 19:00 on 3rd July at St Marys Church, Cowes, with tickets avaliable to purchase here.
