Gritters will be deployed from their depot at Stag Lane once again this evening (Sunday).
The Island’s road network will be treated from 17:00 as a result of the anticipated freezing temperatures this evening and overnight into Monday morning.
Pedestrian bridges at Stag Lane and Foxes Road will also be gritted.
The icy conditions have led to a number of road traffic collisions over the past couple of weeks, but motorists do now appear to be taking the advise of driving carefully and according to the road conditions.

By what I have seen, the gritters travel too fast and the grit gets flung into the hedges and kerbs, with little going onto the road..
I agree with you all they want to do is get the gritting done as quick as possible and get back to there office for tea and sausage sandwiches.
Tony. I don’t agree with your reply to my comment, I only commented on what I saw.
Why dont you join the team and do it properly sick to death of reading nagative comments probably from people sitting on their 4rses doing nothing
Well said you, if they think they can do a better job then perhaps they will give up there time of to do it.
Quite right. Bet these people wouldn’t do it. My son has to grit some of the car parks and it’s an awful job in the cold and dark.
And that is why they are rushing to use up all the grit when it’s not really needed. Once it’s gone it’s gone.
4/5 degrees by dawn. Up to 8 in the west. That’s what iw met service says!
