A number of jobs on the Isle of Wight are at risk tonight (Monday) following the collapse of the Arcadia group, which owns Topman and Topshop.
It’s unclear if the St James’ Square store will survive the company going into administration, although the business will continue to trade as normal when coronavirus restrictions are lifted on Wednesday.
The collapse of Arcadia is one of the biggest failures of the COVID-19 pandemic. A staggering 13,000 jobs are now at risk across the country. No redundancies have been announced as of yet.
Deloitte, who have been appointed as administrators, will now look to find buyers for the group’s brands including Topshop, Dorothy Perkins, Burtons, Evans, Miss Selfridge and Wallis.
Anyone who ordered with any of the brands over the weekend will have their orders honoured.

Less jobs but the Government keep allowing in more people into the UK, and never returning those who arrive ill egally
And OUR Council are going to build thousands of homes here, BUT we have not enough jobs for those already here, let alone bringing in more jobless who will likely turn to drug dealing and crime to make ends meet.
Both useless and the council at least need to be voted out.
More houses, more people, and fewer jobs.
What could possibly go wrong for the Island with such a wise council in control?
At this rate, the only shops the low life will be able to steal from will be the supermarkets, oh, forgot, the Co-OP is closing.
More assett stripping by Philip Greed. Sad for the employees, Arcadia used to be such a thriving company until he took over, and he’s gradually stripped it bare, just like BHS.
Just 2 weeks to flatten the curve…the rest to flatten your lives…
