Another yellow weather warning for freezing fog and icy conditions across the Isle of Wight has been issued by local forecasters IW Met Service.
Throughout this evening (Thursday) and tonight the patchy mist currently being experienced will thicken into much denser areas of freezing fog, predominantly over the high ground but dipping to lower levels at times. Any areas that are affected by freezing fog will also see substantial ice deposits on trees, plants, power lines and anything that is exposed to the breeze.
Ice is expected to form on untreated roads and surfaces, especially in rural parts where we may see temperatures dipping as low as -5’c locally but generally between -3’c and -1’c.
Towards dawn a few light snow flurries are also possible which may add to the already slippery conditions, but the temperature will gradually rise to around freezing or slightly above and this will give a slow thaw of any ice and frost, as well as lifting the fog into low cloud.
Travel and transport is likely to be disrupted at times with a risk to motorists, particularly those travelling overnight and early tomorrow morning.
Further information can be found on the IW Met Service’s Ice and Frost page at https://www.iwmetservice.co.uk/iceandfrost/.
The warning is in force from now until 11:00 tomorrow morning (Friday 8th January).

Well I can report that Ventnor and Shanklin areas are perfectly fine with no ice. So travel with confidence
