A commercial premises in Nettlestone could soon be demolished to make way for 4 semi-detached properties.
Plans have been submitted to the Isle of Wight Council to build on the former Eurovines site, which is said to be substandard and in a very poor state of repair. It’s located next to Nettlestone Primary School.
Under the plans, 2 pairs of semi-detached homes will be built on the 0.8-hectare site. Each dwelling will have the benefit of a single car space with sufficient space to turn within the site to allow forward entry and exit. Parking for neighbours at ‘Green Corner’ is also provided for within the scheme.
It was 10 years ago that outline planning consent was granted for 2 pairs of semi-detached dwellings with parking, under reference P/01066/12. This new application is fundamentally of a virtually identical nature to the 2012 approval, save for a marginal increase in distances to boundaries to meet Building Regulation requirements.
The premises has been used in the past for residential purposes as well as a forge, shop, garage repair workshop, joinery, an electrical component production company, wine distributors and more recently a cleaning company’s offices. The building has been vacant now for a year or so.
Islanders have until 12th August to comment on the plans.
