An 11-year-old boy was taken to hospital with a serious leg injury last night (Wednesday) after being hit by a car whilst out on his scooter.
Emergency services were called to the junction of Stephenson Road and Newport Road at just before 20:00, to reports of a collision between a car and a scooter.
The Isle of Wight Ambulance Service sent paramedics to the scene, who were able to provide initial on-scene treatment before conveying the youngster to St Mary’s Hospital.
Police closed the road for a time, but the incident was cleared by 21:15.
