A father-and-son rally team from the Isle of Wight have returned from Cornwall with silverware after securing a class podium and being recognised with a special award at the TSH Stages Rally.
Simon and Matt Verstraeten, from Shanklin, finished an impressive 19th overall and 3rd in Class 3 at the event, held at Portreath in Cornwall.
Competing in their Talbot Sunbeam, the Isle of Wight duo tackled the challenging stages against a strong field of competitors from across the South West.
The result marks another successful outing for Simon, who this season has been joined by son Matt in the co-driver’s seat.
As well as celebrating their class podium, the pair were also presented with the coveted Spirit of the Rally award – recognising their enthusiasm, sportsmanship and contribution to the event.
Earlier this year, Island Echo reported how the Shanklin duo were preparing for the season with support from Island Echo, Harwoods Garage, Wilton’s of Shanklin and RapidFinish cosmetic car repairs.
The latest result adds to what has already been a memorable year for the father-and-son partnership, with Matt continuing to gain experience alongside his dad.
