HRH The Duke of Edinburgh is continuing his visit to the Isle of Wight today (Tuesday) as the sun shines down on Cowes for Day 4 of the annual Cowes Week regatta.
Prince Phillip arrived on the Island via helicopter yesterday (Monday) when he briefly visited Osborne House in East Cowes, meeting English Heritage volunteers and staff at the former Royal residence of Queen Victoria. He was welcomed to the Island by HM Lord-Lieutenant of the Isle of Wight, Major General Martin White CB CBE JP.
As the sun set across Cowes the Duke transferred ashore to the Royal Yacht Squadron from the Galaeta – a 21-gun salute welcomed him.
As previously reported by Island Echo, HRH will present the Queen’s Award for Enterprise International Trade to Spinlock, a manufacturing company based in Cowes since 1976 tomorrow morning.
