Residents on the Isle of Wight will be able to access drop-in COVID-19 vaccinations and free health checks at a series of community clinics running from now until 30th June.
The initiative, led by the Vaccination Centre at St Mary’s Hospital in partnership with primary care services, aims to bring healthcare closer to local communities through a programme of accessible drop-in sessions.
Clinics will offer a range of support, including blood pressure checks and advice on maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Visitors will be able to receive guidance on weight management, smoking cessation, diabetes and stress, helping them take proactive steps to improve their overall health.
Those eligible for the spring COVID-19 vaccine – including people aged 75 and over, as well as individuals aged 18 and above with severe immunosuppression – will also be able to receive their free vaccination at the sessions.
Experienced nursing staff will be on hand to answer questions, address concerns and signpost further support where required.
Sue Lightfoot, Clinical Lead at St Mary’s Vaccination Centre, has said:
“By bringing clinics into local communities, we’re making it easier for people to access support without the need to travel far.
“These visits can also help identify potential health issues early.”
There is no need to book appointments for the clinics, with residents encouraged to simply attend at a convenient time.

the damage is done and now they are on medication for

At least unlike many they are still alive.
