Over 50 children and 6 members of staff from Greenmount Primary School in Ryde are self-isolating for the next 10 days as a result of a positive COVID-19 case within the school community.
Letters have been sent out to parents of those affected and other children in the school informing them of the situation.
Those self-isolating come from the Year 1 bubble.
A spokesperson for the Isle of Wight Council has said:
“A member of Greenmount Primary School community has tested positive for Covid-19. Families and staff have all been informed. After seeking public health advice a year one bubble of 54 children and six staff now need to remain at home and self-isolate as a precautionary measure.
“A high-quality remote learning will be provided for the children throughout this time. The school remains open for all other staff and students.”

We need to shut the schools now.
The children our are future, so let’s protect them.
We totally agree. There’s 9 days to xmas when families will all meet up. So kids home & to stay home will have them all clear for xmas time, or high chance of passing onto older relatives.
Why are the schools still open? but why on earth are parents dragging these vectors of infection around supermarkets, I had to leave ASDA because it simply was not safe with large family groups marauding around, with COVID-19 rife in schools why let it spill back into the community.
St Catherine’s school in Ventnor will finish today because of Covid 19..
Strange that no one has had a cold or flu like thousands normally do at this time of year.Funny that
