Commodore Cinema in Ryde has closed its doors until further notice, following in the footsteps of Cineworld in Newport.
In a statement issued today, Leo Leisure has said:
“We would like to thank you for your continued support.
“On review of Government guidelines, a decision has been made to close the cinema until further notice.
“We look forward to welcoming you back soon”.
Islanders are now unable to make a trip to the cinema – and it is unclear when cinemas will re-open.
In the meantime, Sky has announced that it will make new films available on Sky Store at the same time as the global premieres.
The adjoining bingo hall remains open.

Lucky the little darlings set free tomorrow from all schools have phones and the net, otherwise anti social behaviour, vandalisim, shop lifting, fighting, and arson would become an issue with ‘bored’ teens skulking about.
Doubt though such will be ‘enough’ in inner cites to appease the youth. With prisons debating whether to release many of its inmates, the fear of being caught will be even less for the ‘type’ who partake so easily in this sort of behaviour.
Unlike war times, not all will pull equally together nowadays.
Let’s hope the Gov bring in troops if what I fear occurs in cities, and they shoot, not cower under riot shields as per usual, as the public have enough on their hands to deal with, without fear of their lives from mobs. If so, watch the BBC blame everyone ‘but’.
Doing your bit to spread sunshine, are you Seay?
Seay, sad to say you’re right.
I have to say I’m gutted.
Especially as they were just about to show a rerun of the 1995 film Outbreak. 🙂
If you want to be entertained check out a series called ‘survivors’ which is on Utube, made in the 70’s it is about a virus from Japan which comes to the UK. Film quality poor but good to watch if not to phased, nothing graphic etc.
Why is the Bingo Hall still open ??? Are Bingoers immune to the Virus ?
