Wight Tri members competed in an Island Games fundraising event, a GO Tri Super-sprint Triathlon, at Yaverland Sailing Club over the weekend.
15 competitors took part in this event, which started with a 400m sea swim, followed by an undulating 10.5km cycle loop towards Bembridge and finished off with an out and back 2.5 km run along the revetment to Eastern Gardens.
Wight Tri members Rob Johnson, Craig Wilson and Chris Till took the top 3 spots, in 37:36; 37:40 and. 37:55 with only 19 seconds separating all 3.
Millie Williams of Vectis Academy was the fastest female in a very fast 39:22 with Lucy Doorly and Hannah Bryan 2nd and 3rd in 48:23 and 48:50 respectively.

After the Wednesday Island Games fundraising triathlon event, Wight Tri organised the first of their Summer Aquathlon events.
The GO TRI Totland Aquathlon took place on Totland waterfront, starting with a 300m sea swim and a choice of 1 or 2 laps of a 2.5 km run to Colwell Bay and return.
12 members took part and braved a very rough sea, and then windy and wet conditions on the run.
First out was Henry Morgan, closely followed by ex-GB triathlete Mark Sharp.
As both of these were running as a team, their job was done as they handed over to their runner.
As this is a nominated times event, 1st in the nominated event were Matt Sharp’s team, only 26 secs inside their nominated time of 27:00.
2nd was also the Team of Henry and Mum, Sophie Morgan, who completed the swim and short run in 18:02, 58 secs inside their time.
1st individual closest to their nominated time, and keeping it in the family, was Dan Morgan in 28:39 and 1:21 faster than anticipated, with Craig Wilson, next 1:37 and finishing in 28:23.
Fastest on the night was Rob Johnson, who completed the 300m swim and 5km run in a fast time of 25:21, followed by new member Chris Till in 25:49.
Arielle Elton Walters was the fastest female in 36:40.

The Isle of Wight Island Games triathlon also took part in a selection race for the team relay event in Guernsey.
This 400m swim, 6km cycle and 1.5 km Team Relay event takes place on the last day in Guernsey, with 2 males and 1 female in each of the teams.
Isle of Wight Triathlon club athlete, Lottie Van der Helstraete showed her prowess in the swim, to lead out all male and female triathletes from the swim, closely followed by teammates, Henry Morgan and Thomas Horton. Jake Brougham from Vectis Academy was next out, and he chased hard on the bike to exit T2 in 3rd position, with Henry now in 1st, having caught Lottie on the bike.
However, strong running by Jake saw him take the top position with Henry 2nd and Lottie 3rd and 1st female. Gary Means was 4th, with Thomas in 5th and Trevor McAllister of Wight Tri in 6th, having posted the fastest run split With Liz Steward finishing in 7th and 2nd female.
Charis Jones had to pull out with severe cramp in the swim but will be recovered for next weekend’s race.
Jake, Lottie and Henry have been selected for Team A, with Gary, Liz and Thomas in Team B, with Trevor and Charis as reserves.
3 members of Wight Tri crossed the Solent to take part in the Natures’s Way Chichester Triathlon Festival on Sunday
Super vet, Glyn Jenkins, was 1st off in the Sprint Triathlon event, (400m pool swim, 33km cycle and 5km run) and had an excellent race to finish 1st in the 70-74 age group in 2:01:39, nearly 23 mins ahead of his nearest rival.
Loic Le Floc and Mike Kimber chose the longer Standard Triathlon event (600m pool swim, 42km cycle and 10km run).
Loic finished 1st of the duo in 2:40:35, posting splits of 11:58,1:34:59 and 49:23 to finish 5th in the Vet 50-54 category.
Mike completed his race in 2:43:04 (13:07, 1:35:35, 50:45) to take a super 3rd in the Vet 55-59 age group.
Michaela Heathcote chose to compete in the Aquabike Sprint event, 400m pool swim and the 33km cycle.
Posting a super swim of 8:04 and bike of 2:05:33., she finished in 2:16:32 to take 3rd position overall and 1st in the Vet 55-59 category.
