Keegan Brown will no doubt be celebrating tonight (Saturday) after knocking out defending champion Gerwyn Price in the Last 16 of the 2023 Jack’s World Series of Darts Finals in Amsterdam – a major career win for the 30-year-old.
Keegan secured his place in tonight’s match by taking a 6-1 victory over Simon Whitlock on Friday, as reported by Island Echo. That win saw him draw Gerwyn Price in the Last 16 – a less than favourable opponent for the Island star.
Money will have been on last year’s winner, Wales’ The Iceman, taking the win over the Isle of Wight’s Keegan Brown, especially with a season average of 98.76 vs Brown’s 89.85.
The match got off to a weak start for Keegan who went 2-0 down immediately, but he soon focused on the opportunity ahead and clawed back 2 legs to make it 2-2.
Former world champion Gerwyn Price went ahead with 3 legs but Brown – ranked 94th in the world before tonight – came straight back to make it 3 a piece.
It was in the 7th leg that Keegan secured his first 180 throw and soon went 4-3 ahead with an impressive check out.
Another strong check out on the bull put Keegan Brown 5-3 up in the 8th leg, with victory almost within reach. Price soon came back though to make it 5-4, with the fans’ tensions building.
In the 10th leg the pressure was really on for the St Mary’s Hospital worker; a lack of big throws almost gave the set away. However, Brown’s strong performance overall – which will have caught the attention of darts fans worldwide- alongside a 164 checkout saw him secure victory with a 6-4 win, knocking Price out of the competition.
Keegan is now through to the Quarter Finals tomorrow afternoon (Sunday) where he will play Nathan Aspinall in a Best of 19 legs – another potentially challenging match.
Following tonight’s win Keegan will walk away with no less than £17,500 prize money, more if he makes it through to the Semis. It comes just 9 months after getting his tour card back.

Go on lad! Keep it going!
