East Cowes Vics have extended their 100% record to 3 games after beating Totton & Eling at Miller Park this afternoon (Saturday). The East Cowes side travelled to Totton & Eling in confident spirit after 2 victories in their opening games. With Alex Smith unable to attend, assistant manager Stu Simmonds steered the ship. Vics started brightly and were looking sharp in the opening encounters, with Aedan Coode’s effort in the 12th minute just going wide. Vics keeper Alex Ram pulled off a good save in the 14th minute after good work from Harry Vidler and was in the right place in the 19th minute, turning an effort around the post from Mac Gange. Vics centre forward Caleb Neale was unlucky in the 25th minute; his great run and attempted chip over the Totton keeper was saved. However, the East Cowes side took the lead a minute later, Elliott Wheeler’s wonder strike from 25 yards smashed against the inside of the post and into the net (0-1). In the 28th minute, a great ball from Aedan Coode put Jacob Reynolds away, and his chip over the keeper looked to be a goal all the way but was cleared off of the line. Just before half time efforts from Caleb Neale and Aedan Coode were both well saved by Theo Widger in the Totton goal. Half time Totton & Eling 0-1 East Cowes Vics The 2nd half started at a real pace with a Josh Neale strike sailing over the crossbar. Totton & Eling equalised in the 67th minute, Ollie Pennett’s low drive beating Ram for pace at his near post (1-1). Totton could have taken the lead on 72 minutes; Harry Vidler’s header was met perfectly from a cross, but Alex Ram had his positioning correct and tipped the ball over the crossbar. In the 82nd minute, Jayden Yates’ clever through ball found Charlie Hart, and his beautiful finish beat the keeper (1-2). Totton pushed hard for an equaliser; Ram saved a goalbound effort in the 85th minute, and Toby Snow cleared an effort off of the line in the 86th minute. The game became hot tempered; Totton had Jack Stuttard booked for a foul and Mac Gange was given a red for grabbing Caleb Neale round the throat. 11 minutes were added for injury time, but the Vics held firm to return all 3 points to the Isle of Wight. PORT HELD BY LEAGUE LEADERS NEW MILTON TOWN AT BEATRICE AVENUE

Newport IW have fallen to 5th place in the Wessex Division 1 table after being held at home by leaders New Milton Town. New Milton took an early lead through Heath Thornton on the quarter hour mark (0-1). Ji Nash then equalised for the Port 3 minutes before the half time interval with a back post header from a cross by Matt Oatley to leave the scores level at half time. Newport had plenty of chances to take all 3 points in the 2nd half with Joe Butcher forcing a good save from the New Milton keeper, Kai Grace heading over the crossbar, and Henry West forcing a a further match winning save from the away keeper shortly before full time. However, the Port were unable to convert 2nd half chances into goals and were forced to settle for a point. YACHTSMEN STILL SEEKING FIRST WIN OF NEW SEASON

Cowes Sports remain winless in the season to date after losing 0-3 to Hythe & Dibden at Westwood Park. The Yachtsmen nearly conceded in the 2nd minute when Scott McFarlane came close to heading into his own goal but had the ball well saved by keeper Ed Hatt. A couple of minutes later, John McKie had a good penalty appeal turned down by referee Rajab Seruwagi. Hythe & Dibden opened the scoring in the 7th minute with a 30-yard strike from Dylan Hacon (0-1). Cowes came back strongly with McFarlane shooting over the crossbar, Liam Triggs heading at the Hythe keeper and McFarlane shooting inches wide. Hythe then came close to going 2 goals to the good with a header bouncing off the upright. The Yachtsmen came close to equalising shortly before half time when George Carter-Knight first had a shot cleared off the goal line, then deflected for a corner. Ryan Oatley then headed the resulting corner just past the back post. The half ended with a booking for the Hythe & Dibden manager for getting overexcited in his interactions with the officials.
