Hartford Care’s Inver House care home on Foreland Road, and The Elms on Swains Road, have scooped the Best Business Award at the 2026 Bembridge in Bloom event.
The annual competition, organised by Bembridge Parish Council, showcases the best gardens in the village, from the best front garden through to the best public garden space.
The judges were particularly impressed by how involved the Inver House and The Elms residents are with the gardens, in particular the vegetable garden at The Elms and the wonderful community spirit shown by Hartford Care volunteers who help water the hanging baskets.

“We are thrilled to be presented with our certificate and beautiful rose bush for winning the award. I’d particularly like to thank one of our fabulous volunteers, Margaret Wilder, who has been invaluable in supporting the residents and staff from our initial garden club where we did all the planting, through to helping maintain our wonderful gardens.
“It was also lovely to be able take along Mary, one of our residents at Inver House, to the ceremony. Mary, Margaret and I all enjoyed seeing the beautiful displays of flowers and vegetables. I feel incredibly honoured that the judges described our garden as a ‘very tranquil and relaxing environment’, it truly is a beautiful place for our residents, their families and our staff to spend time.”
Inver’s 50-bedroom home has benefitted from significant investment over the last few years and offers residential care, end of life care, respite care and day care, along with dementia care in a dedicated 32-bedroom suite, Treetops, within a sympathetically converted Edwardian building.
The Elms offers residential, day care, nursing, dementia, end of life care and respite care at its characterful 48-bedroom home. Residents benefit from large, landscaped gardens and enjoy a full schedule of activities, entertainment and outings to suit all tastes.
