Cyclists took on 100km of Isle of Wight countryside yesterday (Sunday 6th September) as the Isle of Wight Randonnee was held for the first time under Mountbatten Isle of Wight.
The Isle of Wight Randonnee was established by the Wayfarers in 1985 and uniquely follows a route around the whole of the Isle of Wight.
Taking minor roads and lanes wherever possible, the route gives riders the opportunity to see and enjoy some of the best of the Island’s scenery.
Participants cycled clockwise around the Island, starting and finishing at the checkpoint closest to them.
The route incorporated around 1,500 metres of climbing as riders made their way around the Isle of Wight.
This year’s event marked the first time the Randonnee had been run by Mountbatten Isle of Wight, with participants encouraged to fundraise while taking on the challenge.
