Officers investigating the murder of a man in Ryde have made 2 further arrests, it has been revealed.
Police attended a flat in George Street on Tuesday afternoon (4th January) where the lifeless body of a man, aged in his 30s, was found.
Hampshire Constabulary confirmed on Wednesday morning that a 38-year-old man had been arrested on suspicion of murder. It has now been revealed that a 29-year-old man and a 28-year-old man have also been arrested on suspicion of murder.
All 3 men remain in custody at this time with a warrant of further detention granted for 36 hours in respect of the first suspect.
Acting Detective Chief Inspector Adam Edwards said:
“Officers continue to maintain a presence in the area as further enquiries are carried out to establish the circumstances surrounding this man’s death.
“We continue to urge anyone with information about this incident to please make contact with us, and are particularly keen to hear from anyone that may have seen, or heard, anything out of the ordinary in the area on the evening of Monday 3 January, and into the early hours of Tuesday 4 January.”
A delay in discovering the murder scene has led to the matter being referred to the Independent Office for Police Conduct. Police have confirmed that they initially attended the address in George Street at approximately 02:50 on Tuesday morning, but didn’t return until that afternoon.

The victim’s next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers. His identity is yet to be confirmed.
