A man has been airlifted to Southampton General Hospital following a medical emergency at a property in Lake, which required the assistance of both paramedics and firefighters.
Emergency services were called to an address off Lake Hill earlier this morning (Saturday) when an urgent 999 call was received. 2 ambulances from the Isle of Wight Ambulance Service were sent to the scene, alongside an officer.
It wasn’t long before the assistance of the Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service was requested with 1 appliance from Ventnor mobilised to assist ambulance colleagues at around 08:00.
Fire appliances from Sandown and Shanklin were already out on a shout following a 2-car road traffic collision in Sandown at 07:30.
The Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance was also called to assist with the incident, landing at nearby Sandown Airport within around 20 minutes of the mission tasking.
The male patient has since been airlifted to Southampton by the air ambulance.
Hampshire and Isle of Wight Air Ambulance are currently using a temporary aircraft (G-HEMN) whilst the regular, recognisable G-HIOW undergoes an annual inspection.
