A vehicle fire within a garage is being tackled by firefighters in the village of Brighstone tonight (Thursday). Crews from Newport and Freshwater are utilising main jets, hose reel jets and 4 breathing apparatus sets to bring the Audi TT fire on Gaggerhill Lane under control. Hampshire & Isle of Wight Fire and Rescue Service mobilised a wholetime crew from Newport and a retained crew from Freshwater at around 21:20 – and it’s thought a retained pump from Cowes was mobilised a short while later but has since stood down. Almost an hour after arriving on scene firefighting is still taking place, with foam now being utilised to smother the flames. The extent of the damage caused is unknown at this time.
