Newport’s nightlife is set to undergo quite the transformation when a brand new venue opens in September.
Wyld is the brainchild of local businessman Josh Peverly, who has become well-known in the events industry – not just on the Isle of Wight, but also across the South Coast.
After first breaking into the live events industry several years ago and working with top promoters such as Rob Da Bank on projects including Bestival and Camp Bestival, Josh launched his own business: Wyld Events. The company has gone from strength to strength ever since, with its high-profile events at the top of the Spinnaker Tower selling out within hours of tickets going on sale.
Now though, Josh is set to make his own impact in Newport as he opens a new permanent venue in the center of Newport at the site of the former Pizza Express store.
As previously reported by Island Echo in May, plans were submitted to transform the former restaurant on Pyle Street into an all-new evening venue, described as being an ‘exciting new environment targeted at people who love to socialise and share their experiences online’.
Now though, those plans have come to fruition, with an official announcement touting the new venue and the Island’s ‘sassiest and most Instagrammable cafe/restaurant/bar’, and revealing its grand opening date.
Speaking on Facebook, owner Josh, said:
“Possibly the Isle of Wight’s worst kept secret, however I am so excited to finally unveil my biggest and most exciting project to date.
“Isle of Wight… introducing Wyld. The Island’s sassiest and most Instagrammable Cafe/Restaurant/Bar opening this September, following an extensive refurb to Newport’s Pizza Express with a shiny new flooring, seating booths, shimmering selfie walls and a huge range of Instagrammable food dishes, eye-catching cocktails, and the perfect destination for date nights, socialising, and afternoon tea.
“So much work has already gone into this and it is only the beginning.”
The new venue is also set to be great news for job-seekers, with several new permanent jobs expected to be available, and applications open for Islanders who wish to join Wyld’s ‘cast’.
Wyld is set to be ready for action in September.

Oh well, a bit more to stretch the police and hospital then.
Will fail. Just like the rest after the whole “papers please” attitude from Doris. Thought we fought WW2 to rid the world of tyranny..
Best you take your happy attitude and go then

Wow just what’s is needed, ANOTHER eatery…..NOT.. I love eating at home, things I have to prep and cook, why waste money going out to eat ?? There are thousands of places to eat out at already.. ‘ City off Newport, where one can eat !! Sure we know we need more healthy overweight people about ‘
Competition for Wetherspoons, but twice/three times the price.. and sadly enough, in crappy Newport.. filthy town, ignorant people.. ever see anyone smiling in Newport ? Will soon be known as DOLE CITY… Ho9w many places already in Newport that serve alcohol, and food?
Already has a bad reputation for drunks plus.. and violence..
This should never have been granted planning with flats above and an old people’s block of flats opposite. I just hope it’s not allowed to open late, poor residents.
