Wightlink is launching its Green Innovation Fund for 2024 to help make the Isle of Wight more sustainable. This is an opportunity for groups of Islanders to make a real difference in their community by coming up with a good idea for sustainable and environmentally friendly projects that will help cut carbon emissions and reduce our use of fossil fuels. Wightlink has a £10,000 fund to share between the best applications. Keith Greenfield, Chief Executive of Wightlink, says:
“The Green Innovation Fund is all about empowering and supporting Island communities to push boundaries and advance towards a more sustainable future. Whether you have a groundbreaking idea, a project already in progress, or a desire to make a difference, we want to hear from you. “Together, we can make a meaningful impact. The Wightlink Green Innovation Fund is not just a financial grant—it’s a commitment to our shared future.”
What is Wightlink looking for?
- Projects that bring people together to make a positive impact on the environment
- Applications which include both immediate and long-term commitments to create a more sustainable Isle of Wight
- Projects that use technology to improve energy efficiency or encourage more people to conserve energy or use less of it
- Original thinking; something innovative. Maybe your idea is something that’s never been done on the Isle of Wight
- Projects that lead the way for others. Will it inspire other people to follow your lead, so there’s a wider benefit to the Island
All information about the Green Innovation Fund and how to apply can be found at www.wightlink.co.uk/greenfund. Applications must be received by midnight on Sunday 31st March 2024. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eoJ_AttIY0k

Wightlink would do better by reducing their extortionate fares and stop fleecing people and holding islanders to ransom.
Well said.
Carbon is not an ’emission’. Carbon is an element vital to life on earth. If you mean Carbon dioxide it also is not an ’emission’. It is a food vital for the life of the plants you are spending 10,000 quid planting.
How about using the money to give us cheaper and more effective ferries that won’t break down so often then concentrate on being green
Good luck with that.
10 grand doesn’t even buy you a decent Rollie these days
