Wightlink has been awarded Silver in the British Travel Awards 2021/22 in the category ‘Best Ferry Company to/from UK ports’.
The accreditation was presented to the cross-Solent travel operator at a ceremony in London recently.
Keith Greenfield, CEO of the cross-Solent operator, has said:
“We want to thank everyone who voted for us and are delighted to win this prestigious award,”
“We are proud to support the Isle of Wight’s many businesses that rely on tourism by carrying their customers across the Solent on our modern fleet of ships, including England’s first vehicle ferry powered by hybrid energy – Victoria of Wight.”
The Gold award went to Brittany Ferries which connects the UK with ports in France and Spain from Portsmouth and Plymouth. Danish ferry company DFDS won Bronze.
Keith adds:
“We congratulate Brittany Ferries, our neighbours in Portsmouth Harbour, for winning Gold. These awards prove Portsmouth is an excellent departure port for people from all over the UK who are looking for a memorable holiday following a short sea crossing.”
The British Travel Awards is the biggest UK awards organisation that invites votes from customers. More than 300,000 people cast over 618,000 votes across all of the categories.

Well done wightlink, my experience with yourselves has improved immeasurably over recent years. Well deserved and keep up the good work!
So they came second ? Not first ?
All a bunch of pirates in my opion.
Only because of the staff. Can not fault the staff. The company on the other hand….. the worst.
Are you taking the p##s???
My question is simply, HOW? Overpriced, no customer care. If this doesn’t smack of a lot of brown envelopes then what does. Oh well , up go the prices now again. Keep the islanders as prisoners.
Are they having a joke!!!
You what??
Best at ripping off and failing the customer, that’s the award they should be given!
But that is modern Britain, you award and promote failure.
“WIGHTLINK BAGS TOP PRIZE FOR ‘BEST FERRY COMPANY’ AT BRITISH TRAVEL AWARDS”
They got silver. Gold is the top prize.
I got Gold in the best comments on social media global awards as hosted by the social media association of west ryde. See how easy it is. Bunch of companies create an award ceremony. Then they award each other awards.
“The Gold award went to Brittany Ferries” And if you look at the awards ceremony website “Brittany Ferries Holidays is delighted to be supporting the 2022 British Travel Awards”.
Maybe the awards are for who pays the most.
“Bunch of companies create an award ceremony. Then they award each other awards.” Yup, IoW Chamber of Commerce, for example.
Brittany Ferries is a worthy winner of a gold award. But WightLink???
Sorry…is it April 1st?
I have always found Wightlink staff helpful and the service good, they put us on the first ferry available, and the onboard crew are always willing to help. Guess this sort of comment wont be what the handful of fixed link apologists would have us believe, and the multilink makes for a perfectly reasonable travel cost. Ferry travel is part of living on the Island, and even after many years I look forward to the return trip when I have to go to the mainland.
Load of tripe !! Was your one time trip across on time >> I take it you are disabled and need all the assistance too… only at a guess, because as a normal customer the only staff I communicate with is the teller for a coffee…
You take wrong, why should I have to be disabled rather than “normal” to find people helpful? What an offensive assumption. If you used the ferry regularly, you would know multilinks are no good for one time trips incidently.
You seem to have forgotten about their extortionate fares, the highest per mile in the country?
Possibly ‘world’
What a laugh .. but it’s not funny !!
The Worst ferry operator of the Year .. hell YES
Bob your service & reliability complaint letters never made it to Keith Greenfield then .. no surprise hope you didn’t claim for the stamp on expenses .
Let’s build a bridge then all are welcome to join us.
Free housing, medieval and dental for anyone not from here.
Whoop whoop
get your head out of the sand… a bridge would be useless… high winds… torrential rains… a TUNNEL is what we need… no weather problems…
Who was you in competition with! The floating bridge! Jesus!
Blasphemous bar steward.
Is this a joke ?? Has to be a joke right
If they are the best god help us
So funny!! Whatever are the other operators like!?
3 words…rigged…rigged…rigged!
Absolute rip off merchants should be wearing pirate t-shirts cutlasses and eye patches. So helpful during Covid cancelled everything we are at their mercy. Prize Should of gone to Hovertravel who kept going during pandemic and put on extra vessels when busy instead of cancelling to squash people in.
Change their name to Shitelink.
If they are “The best ferry company” I shudder to think what the worse one is like. Take about rubbing the regular commuters nose in it, who have to put up with the the cavalier attitude to their passengers.
W T F ??? Who in their right mind would have anything good to say about this company ??
Best Company for its shareholders. not for the residents of the Isle of Wight!
WTF. they finish early with the fast cats. Can’t even do a complete hourly service mon- Friday The worst ferry operator award should have been. Absolute joke. Should be called shitelink not wightlink. When are they going to start running a service for customers properly
Wow – how bad must the worst have been ?
The whole Island must be shaking with laughter.
JHVF I recall Yarmouth Parish Council wanting a meeting with JokeFerries CEO Keith Greenfield Hope if he does agree to attend he books a Red Funnel tickets to travel as JokeFerries are not reliable .. but then why would he bother with YPC demands !!
With their record of cancelled crossings-a completely unreliable service, who on earth voted for them?
So…..dare i ask where red funnel came……or was it by invitation only ?
F’n free masons !
Misleading headline: Top price is Gold, not silver. Top price was awarded to Brittany Ferries
No card no travel, I had to travel over to the QA hospital every day for 6 weeks for cancer treatment unfortunately Wightlink was not an option as they will not take cash not really an award winning service l thingk.
So, two working toilets for women that are filthy, at the height the height of summer, with a queue going round the block.
No response to complaint.
Imagine that being your “start to your holiday”.
Overpriced in every direction.
No late ferries.
Ah we could all go on. Brittany ferries are actually cheaper, and really nice to travel on.
Beat the Titanic into second place.
