Forecasters at IW Met Service have issued a weather warning for the Isle of Wight this morning (Monday) as heavy rain is expected to hit from 22:00.
The forecast comes less than a week after Islanders experienced what felt like never-ending sunshine, with beaches packed and many burnt shoulders enjoying the best of the long days.
The warning estimates that heavy rain, flash flooding and thundery conditions will be apparent across 75% of the island from 22:00 today to 05:00 tomorrow morning (Tuesday).
Locally, rain will become very heavy with some areas even seeing torrential rain and possible thundery conditions.
It is expected that as much as 20-30mm of rain could fall in a short period of time, warning islanders that live in areas prone to flash flooding to brace themselves, their homes and businesses.
The office has also issued warnings regarding soil, shingle and field debris being washed across roads and walkways, especially in rural parts of the island as well as large areas of surface water on roads, leading to hazardous conditions.
