A team of determined supporters will take on the gruelling Isle of Wight Ultra Challenge on 2nd/3rd May, pushing themselves to the limit across distances of up to 106km – much of it through the night – to raise vital funds for Island-based charity Friends of the Animals.
Each participant is taking on more than just a race, with every mile helping to give vulnerable animals a second chance.
Last month alone, the charity spent £47,000 on urgent veterinary care, highlighting the growing demand for support. Funds raised through the challenge will go towards life-saving treatment, rescue efforts and ensuring animals in pain are not left to suffer.
Among those being supported are Nellie, an ex-breeding dog who arrived traumatised and still requires ongoing medical care, Bobby, who underwent an amputation following a serious tumour, and Oliver, a young kitten who needed urgent surgery to remove a leg.
The charity also supports thousands of animals each year, including those abandoned, injured or in desperate need, as well as owners unable to afford critical treatment.
